Welcome to the Garfield Elementary School website, home of the Cubs! My name is Jennifer Bump and I am excited to be the principal at Garfield for the eighth year. I have spent twenty-nine years serving in Clovis Unified, thirteen of which have been in Bear Nation. In addition to being an administrator, I have also been a teacher and a counselor within our school district. I have been married for twenty-eight years and have a son who is a graduate of CUSD and Point Loma Nazarene University. In my free time, I love to practice yoga, read, and shop. I love the Garfield community and look forward to coming to work each day to work with your students!
The 2023-2024 school motto is "We are the Cubs. We lead the way. We show ROAR every day!" Garfield students and staff are unified in their commitment to excellence in mind, body, and spirit. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or in the community, you will see Cubs demonstrating perseverance, class, and high standards. We are exceptionally proud of being honored with the California Pivotal Practice Award, the Civic Learning Award of Merit, and the Bonner School of Character Awards. Last year Garfield was also selected as a Platinum Level PBIS school and recognized as a Common Sense School focusing on digital citizenship for students. Giving back to our community is a priority at Garfield! We demonstrate this through many school and community service projects each year. In the spring of 2023 Garfield was recognized by Niche as the third best public elementary school in the Fresno area!
Garfield is blessed to be supported by a hard-working staff and dedicated parent community. The Cubs have a strong sense of family and school pride. We are excited for what this school year will bring and look forward to partnering with our generous Parent Teacher Club to support our academic, athletic, and co-curricular programs.
